Nakia Lane, 48, and Joshua Acre, 34, both of Worcester, face multiple charges following their arrest Sunday morning, Worcester police said.
A ShotSpotter notification sent officers scrambling to the area of Birch Street just before 3:45 a.m. Police noticed four cars and a house with fresh bullet holes, authorities said, but they couldn't find the shooter.
No injuries were reported.
When a Worcester officer returned to the scene to collect more evidence five hours later, they noticed a vehicle that matched one that had been seen near the shooting parked at the corner of Maywood and Birch streets, officials said.
Officers arrested the two inside after they found a loaded pistol inside the car, which neither of them had a license to carry, Worcester police said.
Lane is charged with:
- Carrying a firearm without a license
- Carrying a loaded gun without a license
- Possession of ammunition without an FID card
- Armed career criminal
- Operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license
Acre is charged with carrying a firearm without a license.
Police aren't sure why the men were allegedly popping off shots in a residential neighborhood, but they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Investigators ask anyone with information about the shooting on Birch Street to contact detectives at 508-799-8651.
